Bobay was born in 1955 in Paterson, N.J., to Joseph and Alice (Merker) Bobay. He earned a bachelor's degree from the State University of New York at Fredonia and a master's in business administration in finance from St. John's University.
In 1978, he married Karen Cartelli in Yorktown Heights.
Bobay was director of business management in information technology for Tiffany and Company in Parsippany, N.J.
He is survived by his wife and his children Lauren of Cambridge, Mass., and Gregory of Cortlandt Manor.
Clark Funeral Home in Yorktown Heights handled the arrangements.
