James L. Hockins, 70, Of Verplanck, Self-Employed Carpenter

VERPLANCK, N.Y. - James L. Hockins of Verplanck died Feb. 9. He was 70.

Hockins was born May 16, 1943, in Johnstown, Pa., to Thomas and Bertha Hockins. He was a self-employed carpenter. He was currently working at Walmart.

Hockins is survived by his mother, Betha; wife, Nancy Koutnik; daughters, Carmella Parris and Joanna (Patrick) Harbolic; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and siblings, Thomas Hockins, Gloria Prakope and William Hockins. He was predeceased by his father, Thomas.

Calling hours are Wednesday, Feb. 12 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Cortlandt Funeral Home Inc., 97 Broadway, Verplanck, New York 10596. A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. in the funeral home. A private cremation will follow.
