Gerald Dyckman, 70, Of Verplanck, Truck Driver For South Street Stone

VERPLANCK, N.Y. - Gerald (Dyck) Dyckman, a lifelong resident of Verplanck, died Dec. 14. He was 70.

Dyckman was born Aug. 25, 1943, in Peekskill, to Morris and Philacine (McGuire) Dyckman. He was a teamster in Local 456 retiring as a concrete truck driver for South Street Stone. He was a life member serving almost 50 years in the Verplanck Fire Department, serving as chief and currently as a commissioner for 17 years.

Dyckman is survived by his wife, Lillian; sons, Gerald Jr.(Sharon) and Robert (Dena); daughter, Kristene (Dave); six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; brother, Gary; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, John.

Calling hours are Wednesday, Dec. 18 from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cortlandt Funeral Home . A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20 at the Church of the Assumption, Peekskill. Interment will follow at the St. Patrick's Cemetery, Verplanck.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dyckman’s memory to the American Heart Association or the Kidney foundation.
