Frances M. Travis, 87, Peekskill, Cortlandt Resident

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – Frances Marie Travis, a lifelong Peekskill and Cortlandt resident, died Wednesday, Feb. 10. She was 87.

She was born in Peekskill on July 13, 1928, the daughter of Bryan and Frances M. Davies Lounsbury. On March 17, 1973, she married Charles M. Travis at the Peekskill Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed knitting and doll collecting and was a former member of the Civil Air Patrol, a former Girl Scout Leader and a member of Daughters of America. She was also a member of the Peekskill Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her husband, Charles; two daughters, Frances M. Sampson (Stephan W. Gaichin) and Patricia A. (Robert) Rice; her grandchildren, Robert C. Rice, Bryana M. Sampson, Adam C. Rice and Dustin C. Rice; and several nieces and one nephew.

She was predeceased by her sisters Jane E. Smith and Ruth A. Mason.

The family will receive friends Friday, Feb. 12, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the E.O. Curry Funeral Home in Peekskill. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Peekskill Presbyterian Church, 705 South St., followed by interment in the Hillside Cemetery, Cortlandt Manor.
