Barbara Quinn, 68, Of Croton-On-Hudson

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Barbara Ellen Quinn of Croton-on-Hudson died Jan. 6. She was 68.

She was born Sept. 1, 1944, in Harrisburg, Pa., to James and Virginia Lilly. She lived in Garrison, N.Y., before moving to Croton-on-Hudson. She graduated from Croton-Harmon High School in 1962.

She married Gerald Quinn on May 6, 1967, in Ossining. They lived in Croton-on-Hudson until 1993, when they moved to Fork Union, Va. They then spent 13 years in Fort Myers Beach, Fla. Quinn and her husband returned to Croton in 2011.

A homemaker and entrepreneur, Barbara Quinn was the proprietor of the What Not Shop, Quinn's Corner, the Croton North Diner and Queenies Weenies. She was also a chef for the Rockefeller family.

She was a past president of American Legion Auxiliary Post 506 in Ossining and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary.

Quinn is survived by her husband; four children, Tara, Shannon, Darrin and Erin; and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Harbor at Charles Point in Peekskill. Edward F. Carter Funeral Home in Croton-on-Hudson is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, American Lung Association, Dominican Sisters or American Legion Auxiliary Post 506, 58 S. Highland Ave. Ossining, NY 10562.
