Supervisor Michael Grace said the town will go back to the drawing board on the Freshwater Wetlands Protection Ordinance. The ordinance would've increased the minimum size for wetlands from 1,000 square feet to 4,356 square feet.
Aside from the speakers, the hearing drew more than 100 protestors opposing the ordinance.
Supervisor Michael Grace defended the proposed ordinance, saying it would be stronger than the current law.
After the hearing ended, Grace said he would consider keeping the 1,000 square foot threshold but he wanted a narrow definition of what constituted a functional wetland. He also said the town needs to balance the wishes of opposition with comments from property owners who said the regulations were too burdensome.
