Police confirmed that shortly after 6:15 p.m. on Monday night, a trooper was traveling westbound on Bear Mountain Bridge Road, when a driver in a Nissan sedan “failed to keep right and crossed into the westbound lane,” where he struck the trooper head-on.

No injuries were reported in the collision, and it is currently under investigation. It remains unclear if there were drugs or alcohol involved in the crash.

According to reports, police were also busy in Peekskill with another nearby crash on Monday night, when they dealt with an accident nearly two miles away when a second head-on collision took place on Route 9 between Main Street and Annsville Circle. There were no injuries reported in the second accident.

In both instances, police were forced to temporarily shut down the roadway while they investigated the accidents.
