What's Happening This Weekend Around Cortlandt

CORTLANDT, N.Y. - A beer tasting, a church rummage sale, a riverfront cleanup, Croton's Summerfest and open art studios in Peekskill are among events going on this weekend in the Cortlandt area.

Friday, June 1

Captain Lawrence Tap Takeover: 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. The Green Growler will host a tasting of Captain Lawrence beer, Westchester's own brewing company. Stop in for a taste at 368 S. Riverside Ave., Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y.

St. Augustine's Rummage Sale: St. Augustine's Episcopal Church will run an outdoor and indoor rummage sale with an expanded selection of toys, books, housewares and DVDs, among other items. Various pieces of the festival will be running from 9 a.m. until noon Friday, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, and 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday.

Saturday, June 2

Home Depot Kids Workshop: 9 a.m. - noon. Children can build their own organizers to store hair bands or race cars, or give to dad as a gift. Kids will learn tool safety and will have a chance to paint and embellish their projects. For more information visit the Home Depot website. This event takes place at Home Depot, 3131 E. Main St., Mohegan Lake.

Peekskill Open Studios and Wine Festival: Noon - 5 p.m. The Peekskill art community offers visitors a wide range of choices including furniture designers, musical instrument makers, dancers, video artists, painters, sculptors and photographers. Visit the Peekskill Art Alliance website for more information and participating galleries.

Riverkeeper Sweep Party: 3 p.m. - 7 p.m. This volunteer day encourages people to find a location in their community to cleanup using an interactive map on Riverkeeper's website. There will be a party on the Ossining riverfront starting at 4 p.m., where food and baked goods will be sold. Some activities will be for members only. This event takes place at the Louis Engel Waterfront Park, Secor Road and Westerly Road, Ossining.

Sunday, June 3

Summerfest: Join Croton in the streets, celebrating the summer season! Street vendors, delicious food and wonderful entertainment will be abundant throughout the day. The Summerfest parade kicks off at 1 p.m., and there will be live music throughout the afternoon.

Yoga Healing for Breast Cancer: 5 p.m. - 6 p.m. This is the last free class at Hudson Yoga until the fall. Join a rotating staff of qualified instructors in movement, yoga and meditation.
