CORTLANDT, N.Y. - Here are some of our picks for events going on this week in the village.

Monday, July 2

Croton Board of Trustees 8 p.m. The Village of Croton Board of Trustees will have a regular meeting, where legislative action likely will be taken. This meeting will take place in the Stanley H. Kellerhouse Municipal Building, 1 Van Wyck St., Croton-on-Hudson.

Bed, Bats and Beyond 4:30 p.m. The Hendrick Hudson Free Library hosts a reader's theater production of "Stellaluna." Enter the library's "bat cave" and make your own bat puppet out of felt. This event is for grades 1-3 and registration is encouraged. Call 914-739-5654, or visit the library at 185 Kings Ferry Road, Montrose.

Great American Concert and Picnic 7-8 p.m. Set up chairs and break out picnic baskets to sit on Bascobel's great lawn, and listen to patriotic tunes performed by The Southern Dutchess Concert Band. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Gates open at 5 p.m. for picnicking. Admission is $16 per person, children 12 and younger are free. Boscobel is at 1601 Route 9D, Garrison. Tuesday, July 3

Pajama Party 7 p.m. Toddlers ages 3 1/2-5 are encouraged to wear pajamas and bring a stuffed animal to Hendrick Hudson Free Library. No registration is required. Call 914-739-5654 for more information.

Wednesday, July 4, Independence Day

Peekskill Fireworks Peekskill's annual Fourth of July fireworks will take place on the Riverfront Green at 9:30 p.m.

Federal Holiday A reminder to Cortlandt and Croton residents that all village, town, state, county and federal government offices will be closed, including libraries and post offices. Happy Fourth of July.

Thursday, July 5

Circus Minimus 7 p.m. See the One-Man Circus-in-a-Suitcase show. From one suitcase emerges an entire circus world with a half dozen zany characters, this event will be at Senasqua Park on Elliott Way, Croton. Call Croton's Recreation and Parks Department at 914-271-3006 for more information.

Cortlandt Planning Board Work Session 7 p.m. The Cortlandt Town Planning Board will discuss local development, no legislative action will likely be taken at the work session. The meeting will be in the Vincent F. Nyberg room at Cortlandt Town Hall, 1 Heady St., Cortlandt Manor.
