What's Happening in Croton This Weekend

CORTLANDT, N.Y. – From a beer tasting to live music, here are some events happening in and around Cortlandt and Croton this weekend.

Friday, May 4

Tap Takeover at Green Growler Grocery 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Croton’s Green Growler Grocery will offer tastings of Left Hand, Weyerbacher and Flying Dog beers, as their taps are taken over by representatives of the companies.

Spring Wellness Celebration 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Ajna Wellness Center and Holistic Network, located at 2127 Crompond Road, Cortlandt, will host a spring wellness celebration, featuring free mini-massages, herbal teas and holistic snacks and recipes. Saturday, May 5

Stay-Awake-A-Thon 5:30 p.m., Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday. Stay an hour or stay all night, proceeds from the various activities available at the Stay-Awake-A-Thon, at Hendrick Hudson High School, 2166 Albany Post Road, will benefit the Hudson Valley Hospital Center and Happiness is Camping.

Hope Machine 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The band Hope Machine will perform at the Croton Free Library, 171 Cleveland Drive, Croton-on-Hudson. The band was born at the Guthrie Family Hootenanny and has been singing songs about justice and peace since. The melodies will be simple and sing-alongs are encouraged. Admission is free.

The Melvin T. Bolden Fishing Derby at Depew Park 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Children age 14 and under are invited to try their luck. Prizes will be awarded for the largest fish caught and the most fish caught.  Registration is at 8:30 a.m. and fishing begins at 9 a.m.

St. A's 5K Run/Walk to Squash Hunger at Senasqua Park in Croton 10 a.m. All participants will have a great day out on the scenic 3.1 mile course while taking in great views of the Hudson River, Croton Landing and Half Moon Bay. The race starts at 10 a.m. sharp so those needing to register should arrive early. The $25 entry fee goes to the Cortlandt Emergency Food Bank.

Sunday, May 6

Blood Drive 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Babysitters and refreshments will be provided for this easy, harmless and painless way to give life at Croton-Harmon High School, 36 Old Post Road, Croton-on-Hudson. Donors can be 16-years-old to 76-years-old and must weigh at least 110 pounds. Donors under 18-years-old need parental permission and those over 76-years-old need a physician’s authorization. Yoga for Breast Cancer Patients 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. This free class will be held at Hudson Yoga, 5 Old Post Road South, Croton-on-Hudson, for breast cancer patients and survivors. Class will be taught by Lisa Nachtigall, a triple negative breast cancer survivor.
