Westchester Health Dept. Relocates Branches

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. ? Relocating several programs into county-owned buildings will save the Westchester County Department of Health about $2 million in rent over the next five years, County Executive Rob Astorino announced.

Effective Nov. 1, the department will move to a single floor at 145 Huguenot St. in New Rochelle, reducing its space to 28,309 square feet from 56,618 square feet spread out over two floors.

The Environmental Health Division has moved to 25 Moore Ave. in Mount Kisco, and additional environmental health staff will be located in Peekskill at 750 Washington St.

“A few critical adjustments will allow us to significantly reduce our operating costs while still providing essential services for the public,” said Astorino in a statement.

Earlier this summer, the Administration Division moved to 10 County Center Road in White Plains. The department also maintains its Women, Infants and Children offices and various clinics in Yonkers and White Plains.

The divisions of Community Health, Disease Control, Children with Special Needs and Public Health Information and Communications will remain at 145 Huguenot St. Residents seeking help with obtaining health insurance should also go to the New Rochelle office.

“The move allowed us to save money while maintaining the workforce we need to protect the health and safety of the public,” said Commissioner of Health Sherlita Amler, M.D., who will maintain offices in Mount Kisco and New Rochelle.

Residents and business owners who would like to apply for a Health Department permit, inquire about a violation notice, pay a fine, or seek advice about Health Department requirements must now visit the Mount Kisco or Peekskill office, rather than New Rochelle. Animals to be dropped off for rabies testing should be brought to the Mount Kisco office.
