VA Hudson Valley Honors Nurses During National Nurses Week

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- The VA Hudson Valley Health Care System honored its nurses during National Nurses Week, May 6-12.

“Ethical Practice, Quality Care” was the theme for the 2015 celebration, which recognizes the dedication and accomplishments of the 80,000 nursing personnel nationwide in the Veterans Health Administration.

National Nurses Week is devoted to highlighting the diverse ways in which nurses, the largest health care profession, work to improve health care. From bedside nursing in hospitals and long-term care facilities to the hall of research institutions, state legislatures, and Congress, the depth and breadth of the nursing profession is meeting the expanding health-care needs of American society and its veterans.

From nominations submitted by facilities nationwide, the VA selected an advanced practice nurse, a registered nurse, a licensed practical nurse, and a health care technician to receive the VA Secretary’s Award for Excellence in Nursing.

Audrey Graham-O’gilvie, advanced practice nurse, Brenda Mannion, registered nurse, Kimberly Murphy, licensed practical nurse, and Elizabeth Medina, health care technician, were honored during the “Excellence in Nursing Awards” ceremonies.
