After an officer conducted a traffic stop on Route 22 in Southeast in which he smelled marijuana in their vehicle on Saturday, March 14, the following were charged: 19-year-old Amanda L. Baldwin, 21-year-old Lindsay F. Kleya and 22-year-old Shannon N. Seward.
Police said on March 14, at 2:13 a.m., Deputy Sheriff Vincent Dalo stopped a motorist who had committed a traffic violation on Route 22 in the Town of Southeast. Upon approach, the deputy detected an odor of marijuana emanating from the interior of the vehicle.
An investigation revealed that the driver and two passengers were in possession of quantities of marijuana and quantities of a hallucinogen, police said. The deputy arrested the three women and charged them with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a felony, and with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, according to police.
The three women were processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment. If found guilty of the felony charges, the defendants could face up to 25 years in a New York State Correctional Facility and a fine of up to $30,000.
