State Sent Deceased New Castle Officer Pension Checks For 28 Years

NEW CASTLE, N.Y. – The New York state pension fund lost $346,000 after mistakenly sending checks to retired New Castle Police Officer Joseph Zwiefel for 28 years after his death, lohud reports.

A retired and deceased New Castle police officer was sent checks for 25 years after his death.

The checks kept being sent until 2005, when one was returned to the post office. It’s not known who had been cashing the checks until 2005.
