Route 6/202 Through Cortlandt Closed Tuesday

CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- A section of Route 6/202  running through Cortlandt was closed Tuesday morning, New York Department of Transportation officials said. 

Route 6/202, also known as Bear Mountain Bridge Road, between Route 9D and Route 9 (Annsville Circle), will be "closed until further notice for emergency repairs," according to a DOT release.

Road crews established a detour running from Route 9 to Route 403, to Route 9D and back to Bear Mountain Bridge. DOT officials are encouraging motorists to seek alternate routes where possible. It was unclear Tuesday why officials closed the road.
