Roadwork and Accidents Close Some County Highways

PELHAM, N.Y. – Construction work and several accidents caused delays and closures on Westchester County highways on Tuesday.

The right lane is closed for road maintenance on the New York State Thruway northbound from after the Tappan Zee Bridge toll barrier to just before Exit 10, South Nyack. The lane will be closed until 3:00 p.m.

Workers are also performing maintenance on the New York State Thruway southbound at Exit 7, Route 9A in Ardsley. The right lane will be closed until 3:00 p.m.

The right lane is closed on the Sprain Brook Parkway northbound for construction between Secor Road in Greenburgh and the exit for Interstate 287 in Greenburgh until 2:00 p.m.

The right lane of the Saw Mill River Parkway northbound between Exit 23, Saw Mill River Road, and Exit 25, Route 9A, will be closed for construction until 2:00 p.m.

Roadwork on Interstate 684 in both directions closed the right lane at Exit 9A, Interstate 287 in Harrison, until 3:30 p.m. The work will continue until Thursday.

An accident on the Bronx River Parkway northbound near the Sprain Brook Parkway exit has the right shoulder of three lanes blocked.

A bicycle event on the Bronx River Parkway that runs from Sunday, Sept. 11 to Thursday, Sept. 22 has all lanes closed and detoured in both directions from the Sprain Brook Parkway split to the Westchester County Center in Tuckahoe. The lanes are closed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the duration of the event.

An accident occurred on the New York State Thruway southbound between Exit 6A, Ridge Hill Corporate Drive, and the Yonkers Toll Barrier.

Emergency construction began Tuesday morning on Route 9A southbound just north of the Route 100 exit in Mount Pleasant on North State Road. A ramp is closed on Route 9A to westbound North State Road, but the route is open in both directions.

All lanes will be closed on Bear Mountain State Parkway in both directions between the Highland Avenue exit in Peekskill and South Street in Cortlandt until 3:00 p.m.
