Poughkeepsie Homicide Victim's Identity Uncovered

City of Poughkeepsie police announced that the identity of a man found bound and beaten to death has been uncovered.

Police plan to release the person's identity after notification of the next of kin, said Det. Lt. Matt Clark.

The murdered man was found around 1:11 a.m. Monday when responding City of Poughkeepsie police officers found an unidentified person bound and dead in a first-floor apartment at 48 Marshall St., said Clark.

When officers arrived they nabbed a man leaving the apartment identified as David Perry, 49, of the City of Poughkeepsie, as another man fled out the window, he added.

Perry told officers that the two men had tied up the man and attempted to rob him, but that during a struggle, the man died, Clark said.

The second man, 19-year-old Daniel Barletta, of the City of Poughkeepsie, was arrested in New York City.

Both men are being charged with second-degree murder.
