CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- A Cortlandt man suspected of dealing heroin was arrested and charged by the Westchester County Police Narcotics Unit Tuesday following a month-long investigation, according to police.

Eric Rabe, 23, of Trolley Road, Cortlandt Manor, was charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a felony, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.

Rabe was arrested at 2 p.m. Tuesday on Westbrook Drive after county detectives learned he would be involved in a drug deal at that location, police said.  He was found to be in possession of 30 bags of heroin at that time, police said.  Police executed a search warrant at Rabe’s home following his arrest and recovered an additional 64 bags of heroin and $1,800 in cash, police said.

The heroin seized sells for about $15 per bag when sold individually and about $10 per bag when purchased in bundles of 10, police said.

Westchester County Police spokesperson Kieran O'Leary said the arrest does not appear to be related to the apparent overdose death of a Croton man reported on Tuesday.

Rabe was arraigned Wednesday in Cortlandt Town Court and was being held in lieu of bail at the county jail in Valhalla.
