According to the report, participants were able to leave comments on the draft environmental impact statement for Spectra Energy Corp.’s proposed project that would replace a 26-inch gas pipeline with a 42-inch one running from Stony Point through Peekskill, Cortlandt, portions of Yorktown and into the town of Southeast, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
Pipeline opponents included the grass-roots groups Stop the Algonquin Pipeline Expansion, Concerned Peekskill Residents and Keep Yorktown Safe. About 200 union laborers from Westchester and Rockland counties attended to support the project according to the report.
