PEEKSKILL, NY -- Three people were arrested Wednesday in a five-month investigation of drug sales in the area, according to Peekskill Police.

Darrell Washington, 33, of Peekskill; and Monet Wilson, 33, of Tobyhanna, Penn.; were arrested at the Cortlandt Town Center and charged with numerous counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, a class B felony; police said. The two were also charged with possessing crack cocaine and heroin.

The investigation targeted Washington after Peekskill police reportedly received several complaints of suspicious activity from residents living near his former home on Smith Street in Peekskill.

Narcotics investigators from Peekskill and the Westchester County Department of Public Safety later found that Washington was not only selling narcotics from his home, but also in adjacent neighborhoods in Peekskill and Cortlandt, police said.

A search warrant was executed at Washington’s home at 36 Welcher Ave. by members of the Peekskill Police Department Tactical Response Unit.

Officers also arrested Gloria Evans, 44, of Peekskill, after finding crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia inside, according to police. Evans was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors.

The joint investigation resulted in two arrests earlier this month. Peekskill resident Derrick Dickey, 48, was arrested Jan. 9; and White Plains resident Ikeem Greenhill, 20, was arrested Jan. 15. Both Dickey and Greenhill were charged with multiple counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, a class B felony, police said.

Acting Peekskill Police Chief Eric Johansen is encouraging residents to report any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods to police - which can be done anonymously.
