WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- The Westchester County Board of Legislators has delayed a vote to lease out the North Bathhouse at Rye Playland to the Westchester Children's Museum until its next meeting July 11.

"It's all part of the process," said Tracy Kay, executive director of the museum.

The decision came after a public hearing. Fifteen people spoke with at least ten vocally expressing support. The hearing came in the midst of plans to redevelop Playland.

Supporters argued that the museum will reinvigorate the park by attracting more visitors and will generate revenue while providing an educational and cultural service to the county.

Those against argued the vote should be tabled until the county has evaluated all proposals for redevelopment, which may not include leasing the property to the museum.
"I feel good about the amount of people who came out to speak out for the museum," said Kay.
