Fat Sal's Mascot Makes Appearance At Autism Speaks Fundraiser

This was the first year proceeds also supported a local organization, Community Based Services, Inc. (CBS).

The sold-out event featured live music, brewery tours, a silent auction and more, and all funds for Autism Speaks and CBS.

Augie’s owners Audrey Hochroth and Sal Barone organize the event each year to recognize their daughter, Niki, who was diagnosed with autism at a young age.

“We changed the focus of this year’s fundraiser and the response was overwhelming,” said Audrey Hochroth, owner of Augie’s Prime Cut.

“Between holding the event at the brewery and focusing on two organizations, we were able to involve more members of the community and once again, rally together for an important cause. This event means a lot to me and all of us at Augie’s appreciate the continued support from our neighboring local businesses, loyal customers, family and friends. We are happy to do something good – and even have some fun while we’re at it.”

Captain Lawrence Brewery provided a vibrant venue for this year’s fundraiser.

Guests enjoyed live entertainment from The Thornwoods, a local rock band who donated their time to the event. There was an silent auction with gift certificates, hair and spa products, jewelry, sports memorabilia and much more.

A weber grill was raffled off, Fat Sal’s signature steak sauce was sold (proceeds go to Autism Speaks for the sauce all year long), and Fat Sal himself made an appearance – a life-size, plush cow schmoozed with guests to help sell sauce and represent Augie’s owners’ newest venture, Fat Sal’s – a bar and grill that opened up this month in Buchanan.
