MONTROSE, N.Y. -- A man driving the wrong way on Route 9 in Montrose injured himself and another driver when he crashed head-on into an SUV Monday in an effort to escape police, according to News 12.

The unidentified male driver, who had to be extracted from his Honda, is facing several felony charges, police said. The woman driving the SUV was treated at the scene, News 12 reports.

It all started when Peekskill police tried to pull over the man because they believed the Honda was stolen. The man drove southbound in the northbound lanes of Route 9 near Welcher Avenue when he struck the SUV head-on, News 12 says.
