The sirens should be heard in Westchester, Rockland, Putnam and Orange counties.

If there were an actual emergency at the Entergy facility, the sirens in the Emergency Planning Zone would be sounded continuously at full volume for four minutes.

The sirens are not a signal to evacuate, rather they are intended to alert the public to tune to an Emergency Alert System radio or TV station for important information and instructions.

This sounding of the sirens on Wednesday is only a test. No action by the public is necessary.
