BUCHANAN, N.Y. – Indian Point Nuclear Power Plants will be conducting security training drills from Monday, April 2, to Friday, April 6, with realistic simulated gunfire and weaponry sounds, according to a release from Entergy. During the drills nearby residents may hear simulated gunfire, which are intended to sound realistic.

The drills include the use of Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement Systems, “MILES” gear, which uses the concept of laser tag gear, for participants to shoot laser “bullets.” Participants wear vests with laser detection equipment, which simulate the sounds of bullets, said the Entergy release.

Area law enforcement agencies have been notified of the drills.
