Indian Point Announces Day, Time For New Siren System Test

Indian Point Energy Center in Northern Westchester will be conducting a test of its siren system on Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The regular quarterly test is designed to make sure its emergency notification sirens are working, Entergy, which operates Indian Point in Buchanan, said.

As part of this test, sirens will sound at full volume for approximately four minutes in Westchester, Rockland, Orange and Putnam counties, said Entergy.

Because this is only a test, the public is not required to respond during the siren sounding, said Entergy.
