MONTROSE, N.Y. -- Hendrick Hudson Central School District voters easily approved a $6.2 million Capital Project on Tuesday.

According to unofficial results, 529 voted in favor of the project and 254 against.

The plan covers increased wiki access, septic system replacement and plumbing, classroom furniture and electrical upgrades.

"I am ecstatic and very thankful that our community voted in favor of this necessary project," Superintendent of Schools Joseph Hochreiter said in a press release issued Tuesday night. "The success of this vote is due in large part to the countless hours and dedication of our Board of Education members, district staff who participated in creating the project, and countless community members who regularly participated in meetings, seeking very specific information to make informed decisions," Hochreiter concluded.

"We asked only for those items deemed necessary, such as facilities infrastructure, technology upgrades and safety and security enhancements," Board of Education President Mary-Pat Briggi stated in the press release. "I think this positive outcome is an indication of the community's willingness to support an effective, sound learning environment for the students at Hen Hud."
