CORTLANDT, N. Y. -- Adolescents are at greatest risk of drug addiction that can escalate from painkiller use to fight stress, a drug treatment professional told an audience of about 50 people Tuesday at a community forum at Walter Panas High School, according to lohud.com
The forum featured a group of experts in drug addiction and parents who have lost their children to drug addiction. One of those experts, John Slotwinski, director of clinical services at St. John's Riverside Hospital in Yonkers, said drugs, particularly opioid painkillers like heroin, are attractive to young people dealing with the stress of growing up, lohud.com said.
