WESTCHESTER, N.Y. -- The 22-year-old Yonkers man who drowned on Saturday while swimming in Mantoloking, N.J., off the Jersey Shore, has been identified as John Crimmins, a 2010 Tuckahoe High School graduate, according to multiple reports.

Crimmins is the stepson of Michael Yazurlo, the Yonkers superintendent of schools and the former Tuckahoe schools superintendent.

A massive search for Crimmins began after he disappeared from sight at around 2:35 p.m. Saturday, according to the Asbury Park Press.

He was found in the surf at about 3:08 p.m., and after being given CPR, pronounced dead at a nearby hospital, according to the report.

An investigation into the death has been launched.

Crimmins, who was registered as a student at the University at Albany in the spring of 2011, also is survived by his mother, Nancy, and sister, Nicole. He had been a lifeguard at the Lake Isle Country Club in Eastchester.
