“These regions are expected to continue to receive heavy snow that may accumulate at rates of around 2 to 3 inches per hour, which will make it difficult for plows to keep some roads clear," Cuomo said in a statement. "New Yorkers should stay off of the roads and remain in their homes until the worst of the storm has passed.”
Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, meanwhile, has ordered a limited activation of the county's Emergency Operations Center in Valhalla.
The action is being taken so that county officials, work crews and emergency personnel can be properly positioned and prepared in the event of any emergency situation.
The Emergency Operations Center will be staffed through the night as the storm is expected to begin overnight.
