CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - Croton Mayor Leo Wiegman advised families not to trick-or-treat this Halloween because of hazardous conditions in the village.
This is the second year in a row that village officials have advised against trick-or-treating after extreme weather. Last year, a blizzard downed trees and power lines.
An alternative to trick-or-treating is the Halloween party at the Corltandt Youth Center, 3 Memorial Drive, Cortlandt.
Wiegman said downed trees and wires can’t be cleared until village and Con Ed crews can certify that wires are not live. Until then, all lines should be treated as though they are live, he said.
