CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N. Y. -- Following news of a presumed drowning at Croton Point Park this week, the head of the Westchester County police association says county officials should hire more officers to help keep public parks safe, according to News 12.
Michael Hagen, Westchester County Police Benevolent Association president, made his comments after county police announced they are longer searching for fisherman Alex DeSouza, who disappeared after taking a swim Tuesday. Hagen said there were no police patrolling the area at the time, mainly because budget cuts have limited the police force, reports News 12.
But the area where DeSouza went into the water is typically not guarded, and though there are warning signs up, those signs are often town down, says News 12.
