The winner is Croton- Harmon High School Senior Vivian Vaisman, who was presented with an Ipad tablet at the Fifth Annual Vassallo Prevention Fair. The raffle was held and her name was selected from all the students who entered the contest on the Coalition's website.

Students were allowed one entry per comic strip. Vaisman was one of the few students who correctly answered all six questions over the course of the contest. The campaign, “weed ≠ salad,” consisted of a series of comic strips with a message about marijuana use that was shared in CHAP sessions at Croton Harmon High School over the course of several weeks.

Students read the comic strips, and with the use of a QR code, or through the Internet, accessed additional online content about the effects of marijuana use on teens. The “extra” information appeared on the Coalition's website, www.crotoncoalition.com, and was designed to drive awareness of the site's useful informational resources.

The Coalition teamed up with nationally-known youth motivational speaker and stand-up comedian Matt Bellace and nationally syndicated newspaper cartoonist Doug Bratton to create the original comic strips, touting the effects of marijuana use on young people. The concept was developed by a Coalition task force and executed by Bellace and Bratton.

“We congratulate graduating senior Vivian Vaisman for answering all six bookmark questions correctly and for participating in this innovative campaign aimed at sharing important information on teen marijuana use,” said Laurie Dean, Croton Community Coalition Coordinator.

Croton Teen Council Officer Ijangmarie Abam-Depass picked Vaisman's winning entry on stage at the fair from all the eligible entries.
