Cortlandt Man Sent To Hospital After Stabbing

CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- A 30-year-old Cortlandt man was reportedly stabbed Wednesday night after a fight with a teenager.

State Police in Cortlandt arrested a 16-year-old after he allegedly stabbed a 30-year-old man Wednesday evening in a Cortlandt home.

Ralph Scannapieco was stabbed in the lower back after getting into an altercation with his fiancee's daughter's 16-year-old boyfriend Daniel Platoni just before 7 p.m. Wednesday in a home on Red Mill Road, according to New York State Police in Cortlandt. Scannapieco was taken to Hudson Valley Medical Center and is in stable condition, police said. 

Platoni reportedly fled "into a nearby wooded area" following the incident but state police were able to locate him and placed him into custody, according to the release. Platoni was charged with first-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was later remanded to the Westchester County Jail on a $100,000 bond. Platoni's next appearance date is scheduled for 9 a.m. June 10. 

"At this time, it is unknown what the cause of the altercation was and the state police investigation in continuing," state police representatives said in the release.
