Cortlandt Man Charged With Possession of Crack

CORTLANDT, N.Y. – New York State Police said a Cortlandt resident is facing two felony drug charges after a road rage incident began an investigation into the man.

Police said Akil Webster, 29, of Baron De Hirsch Road in Cortlandt, was found in possession of crack cocaine “packaged to sell,” in the vehicle he was driving in the Walmart parking lot in the Cortlandt Town Center.

An investigation into Webster’s activities began when a motorist reported that Webster threatened him with a silver handgun in a road rage incident on Route 9A on the morning of March 1, police said.

Police said the investigation led to Webster being charged with felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor menacing. Webster was charged on Thursday, March 15.

He was arraigned in the Town Of Cortlandt Justice Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $125,000 bail. 

New York State Police said Webster has contacts in Cortlandt, Peekskill, Yonkers, Mount Vernon and Beacon, and are asking anyone with information about Webster’s activities to call the bureau of criminal investigations, at 914-788-8044. All calls are confidential.
