The phrase was coined by Gwyneth Paltrow when she announced her separation from her husband, Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin, on her website goop.com and has quickly gone viral.

The phrase has led to articles at various news sites with everyone wondering the same thing: What does it mean to consciously uncouple?

"It's very weird," Aniko Nemeth said. "It's a very odd thing to say. I had never heard of it before."

Bryant Keyes said he thinks it's a nice way to say you are breaking up with someone.

"It's a feel-good word for a very devastating event," Keyes said. "They are splitting $150 million in assets so it can't be that bad."

"There's no harm, no foul," Allison McSpeedon said. "You are walking away with what you brought in."

Annette Peters wondered what would happen to the couple's two children, Apple and Moses.

Tina Balboni said luckily she doesn't have to think about ever consciously uncoupling with someone, being happily married.

"I had one of those many years ago," Balboni said.
