Catherine Parker's Narrow Election Day Win Tops News In Rye

RYE, N.Y. – Here’s a look at some of the top stories in Rye this week.

  • Rye's Catherine Parker defeated Tom Murphy of Mamaroneck in the Democratic primary election by 110 votes. Parker and Murphy were running for the chance to represent the Democratic ticket in the election for the county legislator's District 7, which covers Rye, Mamaroneck, Larchmont, New Rochelle and parts of Harrison.  The election was so close results were not official until Thursday, two days after the election.
  • City officials are beginning the process of searching to fill two prominent positions. The town is seeking a new general manager for Rye Golf Club and a new commission for the Rye Police Department.
  • Rye City Voters selected Andrew Dapolite and Diane Tolve to represent District 2 on the Republican line for county committee, Patrick MacCarthy and Daniela Vitiello in District 3 and Joseph Sack and Peter Lane to represent the GOP in District 9. Voters had a chance to select two Republicans from each district.
