Anthony M. Sinishtaj, 31, of Stormville apparently stopped in the westbound lanes of the span and left his vehicle with the hazard lights on. A good samaritan alerted authorities who later recovered Sinishtaj's body from the river, police said.

State Police were assisted by the Town of Fishkill Police Department and the City of Beacon Fire Department.
