Algonquin Gas Pipeline Foes To Join Global Climate Rally

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – Foes of plans to expand the Algonquin natural gas pipeline will demonstrate from 1– 3 p.m., Saturday, at the Peekskill Riverfront Green, according to a report in The Journal News.

They will join a rally marking the start of the Global Climate Summit in Paris, the newspaper said.

According to the report, Spectra Energy’s project was approved by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in March.

Nine people were arrested on Monday, Nov. 9, in Montrose for protesting in front of the utility, according to media reports.
