Temperatures are expected to reach a high of between 92 and 94 degrees with the heat index climbing to 100 degrees, and as high as 104 degrees or more in some spots under mostly sunny skies.

The heat advisory, issued by the National Weather Service, is in effect from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Prolonged exposure to heat and humidity will result in heat exhaustion or heat stroke, the National Weather Service Warns.

Anyone working outdoors should take frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas. Anyone overcome by heat should move to a cool and shaded area.

The air quality alert, issued by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, is in effect from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday.

Clouds will give way to sunshine Monday with a high of around 88 degrees.
