CORTLANDT, N.Y. – Peligrina DeLuca celebrated her 105th birthday with her friends at the Adult Day Care Center at Fieldhome Wednesday, May 13.
DeLuca was born in New York on May 12, 1910. She attended court stenography school and worked as a bookkeeper when she was younger. She was also an avid gardener and still enjoys listening to music and singing, especially patriotic songs.
DeLuca and her friends sang “God Bless America” and “America the Beautiful” before enjoying the all-vanilla birthday cake they baked at the center.
DeLuca offered the following words of wisdom: “Love and appreciate your family because they love you."
The new Adult Day Care Center at Fieldhome provides a friendly setting for seniors who need some assistance, but would like to continue living at home. Participants enjoy social, intellectual, cultural and educational group activities. They also enjoy intergenerational activities with the children from The Early Learning Center, which is ]in the same building.
