Westchester Restaurateur Joins Bedford's Martha Stewart For July 4th Video

BEDFORD, N.Y. -- Martha Stewart filmed a Fourth-of-July-themed grilling video from her Bedford home this week, with help from a local restaurateur and department-store owner.

Mount Kisco restauranteur Bonnie Saran joins Martha Stewart in her Katonah yard for a Fourth of July grilling video, which Stewart streamed on Facebook.

She aired the video on Facebook Live, taking questions from viewers as they went. You can still watch the video in full, here.

Stewart's home is in Bedford -- or more precisely, in its hamlet of Katonah -- and she invited Bonnie Saran to help prepare the food. Saran is the owner of four Mount Kisco restaurants -- Little Drunken Chef, Little Spice Bazaar, Little Kabab Station and Little Crepe Street -- as well as Pleasantville's Little Mumbai Market.

Stewart raved about the food at Saran's venues -- "Bonnie makes the best lamb burgers and lamb kabobs!"

Jim Raneri was also a guest, and he brought his grilling prowess. He's owner of Charles Department Store, which his grandfather opened in Katonah 91 years ago. In the video, Stewart praises it, calling it "a small but very well-stocked department store."

Raneri brought with him a Big Green Egg grill -- which of course the store sells. It's a wholly ceramic grill.

The trio prepared aged-cheddar-and-swiss cheeseburgers, turkey-meatloaf burgers and hake burgers. You can find the recipes here. "You're going to love this turkey burger better than any turkey burger you have ever tasted," Stewart opines, after topping one with a red-pepper relish.

Stewart offered non-grilling tips, as well. "Ask your friends what they make. If they come from another country, I guarantee they make something totally delicious that you should be making."
