Hudson Valley Hospital Center Has Twin Baby Boom

CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- Over a 24-hour span, the staff at Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Cortlandt was seeing double.

Three sets of twins were delivered in a day's time, a record for the hospital. Four sets of twins were born in one week.

Leeah and Brodie Hoyer, who are stationed at West Point, delivered Viggo and Cormac on Tuesday. Viggo was born at 2:15 and Cormac at 2:24 p.m. 

Brodie, an Army major, teaches at West Point. The couple have a two-year-old daugher, Lorna.

Jacqueline and Kieran Miller of Cortlandt Manor delivered twin girls, Avery and Savanah, on Wednesday morning. Avery was born at 8:06 a.m. and her sister Savanah at 8:07 a.m. 

Jacqueline is an accountant with Andersen Tax and Kieran works as mason.

"It's been an emotional rollercoaster," Jacqueline said. "We are thrilled."

Kieran said he can't wait to take his daughters home.

"Everything is ready for them," Kieran said. "It's just amazing.

The Millers said they fought over names for a while, but are happy with what they chose.

"We are thrilled to be new parents," Jacqueline said. "We are excited for their next adventures." 

Marie Giron and Herbert Martinez, Peekskill residents, gave birth to Dulce Maria at 11:17 a.m. Wednesday and Luisa Guadalupe at 11:18 a.m.

The babies, who were born prematurely, are doing well in the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit. The couple, who are from Guatemala, have two other children, Daisy, 6 and Flavio, 4.

"I'm so happy," Martinez said. "This is my year. It's very exciting." He said the birth of his twin daughters was his Christmas present.

Martinez said he was surprised to find out Giron was having tpwins, even though both parents have twins in their families. Their other children were also excited about the news.

"Daisy is so happy, but Flavio wanted two boys," Martinez said.
