Dutchess Cruisers Share Love For Cars, Charity, Family Atmosphere In Beacon

BEACON, N.Y. -- Daily Voice dropped by the Beacon Elks Club for a Dutchess Cruisers Car Cruise event Friday night, and what we found was a group with three things in common: a love of helping people, a love of cars, and a love of community and camaraderie.

Dutchess Cruisers, a non-profit group, became a club in 2000, and donates all extra money to charities, including the Veteran's Administration, the American Heart Association and the Alzheimer's Association.

"All our money comes from car shows," club treasurer Tony Lupparelli told Daily Voice. "We have 40 members, and we're always looking for new members."

The members we spoke with all seemed to share a love for the cars that brought them back to their youth, and the family atmosphere they have found among other car enthusiasts.

Dutchess Cruisers meets Monday nights at the Smoke Haus (East Fishkill Provisions) in Hopewell Junction, and the group also meets Wednesday nights in Hyde Park, and Friday nights in Beacon, at the Elks Club.

They have an upcoming show Sunday at Healy in Poughkeepsie, and another one on Main Street in Beacon on October 16.
