CORTLANDT, N.Y. Cortlandt delis are anticipating the Super Bowl with a mix of extra inventory and team spirit as dozens of locals are placing game day orders.
Its just good for the area in general, said Don Kenneally Jr., son of Croton Mini Deli owner, Don Kenneally. The deli has been in operation at the end of Maple Street in Croton for 20 years. The deli has at least 100 feet of wedge on order for Sunday, and more than five-dozen pounds of chicken wings.
We always get busier when a New York team is in the Super Bowl, last year with no New York team it was an average Sunday, but when theres a New York team involved everyone wants to have a party, said Gary Parks, meat manager for Coles Deli in Montrose. The deli has been in business for over 100 years, Parks has been with the family for 41 years.
While fans root for the teams, anticipation for the big game is what really drives the mood. Both Parks and Kenneally will be rooting for the Giants.
I dont care how they win as long as they do. The last game was exciting when they won with like 30 seconds left, but Ill be happy anyway they win, said Kenneally. He will be spending the day at a family members house, where theyve spent the last five games.
Those wishing to order chicken wings or wedges for Super Bowl Sunday should do so by early Saturday at the latest, as many bread vendors have to have orders in by 1 p.m.
