She got her start performing in Carol Arrucci's theatre class in elementary school. Arrucci has worked with young Broadway talent in the past, and recognized Ciulla's skills right away.

“I remember the first time I heard her sing,” Arrucci said. “I immediately decided that I would stick with Kate and do all I could to encourage and nurture this amazing young talent.”

Arrucci wasn't the first to recognize her talents. Ciulla's mother, Laura Hyman, recalls a very active young girl.

“She started singing and playing the piano before she learned how to talk. She loves to sing, act and dance and loves musical theater most of all.”

Ciulla's resume is varied: participating in All-County Chorus for Fifth and Sixth Grade, part of the Select Choir at Blue Mountain Middle School and winning the Junior Division of the 2013 Hen Hud’s Got Talent contest.

On stage, she's worked with Yorktown Stage, KJK Summer Theater, Random Farms, and Hendrick Hudson High School.

“I made great progress when I started studying voice at The Cortlandt School of Performing Arts. My voice teacher Allison Tupay teaches me there every week and she has helped me increase my range, work on breath control and I even sing in foreign languages. The quality and sound of my voice has improved so much.” Kate notes.

More recently, she worked with PMT Productions, and with Arrucci again at The Paramount Hudson Valley.

Local artist Daisy Jopling was impressed enough to have Ciulla perform with her band during Wednesday's performance at The Winery at St. George in Mohegan Lake.
