CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- When it started taking him longer to recover from pain he felt after working out, Mike Harris got worried. He had been an athlete for years, and even participated in races such as the New York City Marathon during his youth. Thats why, only after seeing the results of an X-ray that revealed his cartilage had worn away, did he realize he needed to have his hip replaced.
It was a no-brainer that my situation was not going to get better, said the Cortlandt resident.
His initial anxiety about the surgery was quelled once he met with Dr. Scott Russinoff at Hudson Valley Hospital Center. He also met with representatives from rehabilitation centers around his town who walked him through the recovery process.
Then, for the three days he was in the hospital before and after his hip replacement surgery, he says he felt catered to by the staff, which reassured him that he made the right decision in going through with the procedure.
That top-notch care didnt end after he left the hospital, though. When he spent the following week at Cortlandt Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, Dr. Russinoff visited him at the facility to check on how he was feeling.
It was a combination of everything working out perfectly. It was a surgery that I really needed, it was done well, and the service was excellent. I feel great, he said.
That was in December, and Harris has now fully recovered and is back on the treadmill.
Its been full steam ahead, he said. Im back to the elliptical and StairMaster machines. Its just fantastic.
