CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Catherine Jane Ellis Savell, 52, of Croton-on-Hudson, passed away peacefully at her home on November 16. She was the mother of two sons, Harrison (Harry) and Jack Savell, and had multiple careers in her life.
She had a 21-year career at Bear Stearns and Co., creating and managing the in-house travel department as director of Global Travel Services. She eventually returned to school, graduating in 2008 with a B.S. from Fordham University in Teaching Students with Disabilities. After receiving her degree she taught as a substitute teacher and private tutor.
She did extensive volunteer work throughout her life, particularly to benefit children and the poor. She also served as an elder in the Scarborough Presbyterian Church of Scarborough.
She was the sister of Thomas Ellis, of Kittery, Maine, and Karen Blaney, of Vernon, Conn. She is also survived by her parents, William and Jane Ellis of Athol, Mass., and her nieces and nephews, Bejamin, Katie, William and Leah.
The family will receive friends on Friday, from 2 to 4 p.m., and from 7 to 9 p.m. at Dorsey Funeral Home, Ossining. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, at 10 a.m., at Scarborough Presbyterian Church, located at 655 Scarborough Road, Scarborough, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Ms. Savell's name to the Scarborough Presbyterian Church of Scarborough, N.Y.
