Wappingers' Curvy Consignments Plus Filling Needs Of Women With Curves

WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. - Curvy Consignments Plus owner Cathy Meyer opened her store in March of 2015 because she realized that curvy women of all sizes and shapes need a place to call their own.

Curvy Consignments Plus caters to curvy women by: offering new or nearly new items consigned by clients; selling brand new items; through their 'Curvy Closet' - which offers cocktail dresses and more dressy outfits; and with bridal dresses.

The store caters to women sizes 14 to 36W, and large to 6XL, selling everything from sweats to wedding gowns.

"This is a place where curvy women can come and be comfortable, and find clothing they look and feel beautiful in," Meyer told Daily Voice. "People have a hard time finding some things, and we fill that need. Half our store is brand new (items) and half is pristine consignment items."

Myer said the response from customers has been very positive. "Women love the store," she said. "The response we've gotten has been amazing."

The store's most popular items are formal wear, but they also sell bras, active wear and earrings (all new) as well as jewelry.

The store, which earned the 2016 award for Best Consignment Shop in the Hudson (Hudson Valley Magazine) also hosts events that include makeovers, hair styling and more.
