CORTLANDT, N.Y. – A silent film with musical accompaniment and two programs at Teatown Lake Reservation focusing on birds are among events happening around Cortlandt this weekend.

Friday, Aug. 17

"The Freshman" With Pianist Jesse Beller: 7:30 p.m. The 1925 classic silent film starring Harold Lloyd tells of a starry-eyed freshman in college, whose romantic notions of university life make him the target of upper-classman jokes. This is a summer tradition at the Croton Free Library, and will be accompanied by the original music of Jesse Beller. Join others at the Croton Free Library, 171 Cleveland Drive, Croton-on-Hudson.

Saturday, Aug. 18

Crow Play: 1 - 2:30 p.m. The crow is one of nature's most intelligent birds. Learn what makes these feathered bird brains tick by making crow enrichment toys at Teatown Lake Reservation, then take the toys to the crows' enclosure and watch how crows interact with them. How to Install Tile: 10 - 11:30 a.m. Learn to easily install wall and floor tile, and prepare floors for tiling with easy-to-use products. Yoga - A Path to Wellness: Noon - 1:30 p.m. This class is for people living with breast, ovarian or gynecological cancers, and is sponsored by Support Connection of Yorktown. This class is appropriate for beginners or more advanced students. Emphasis is placed on movement with breath awareness as a way to achieve a more tranquil mind.
